A Personal Thought from Daniel
I used to love the action of paranormal investigation. Anticipating the hunt, what we might find, how scary it would be. But again and again it turned into a “wait and see”.
Wait with tools (like EMF, recorders, cameras) for something to show, an event of any kind. I grew tired.
Wasn’t like that in 1999. Still with my ex when we did investigations of haunted locations. It led to the founding of Haunted Hamilton with one house, Bellevue Mansion.
I won’t dive into past stories here. Need something for future posts. To cap the sub-thought, the fun ended in 2004. 5 years after starting I realized hearing and telling ghost stories was the bomb!
I didn’t like seeking them out. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had many experiences over the years, but the routine of paranormal investigation pushed me away. And none of it gave true results.
I hope this doesn’t offend anyone. It’s the subtleties which are hard to follow. Like a small spike on the EMF, or the hard to hear voice on the recorder, or slight change in temperature. Extremes of all those are amazing, but honest results would rarely show investigation to be extreme.
My best experiences happen when not expecting it with no tools in sight. Over 15 years later and that holds up as my greatest learning. From personal account and many stories told by others.
Put yourself in the right place at the right time. A haunted location at night with stirred energy around you. Focus on the silence and your own energy. This is the stuff for which true ghost stories are made.
