The Benefits of Filming

Video after video online claims to show real ghosts captured live on camera. And while some seem not real. Others are believable, turning skeptics into believers.

However, the potential of capturing a real spirit on video is one to take into consideration. Unlike photography, a ghost on video presents the opportunity to show a spirit in action. More legit.

It means you capture details missed in the heat of the moment. Video, and potential audio, allows easy review. Slowed down and sped up to inspect the footage.

Filming your Ghost Experience

While there are clear benefits to trying to catch a ghost on camera. The question whether or not the practice is ethical is debatable. Depending on the situation.

For example, filming without permission on a tour or hunt can be considered disrespectful or against the rules.

Because of this, if you’re planning ahead, make sure filming is permitted to ensure you’re not overstepping rules.

The Equipment

When further preparing for videoing, ensure you have the right equipment on hand.

If you choose to go with a complicated video setup that involves cables rather than using your smartphone, know the basics. Such as, what kind of video cable gets the best quality.

For instance, while display ports connect computer monitors and other electronics (such as a home theater systems) using High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cables which are popular for video and audio content.

Are there Downsides?

As with anything involving technology, there is the potential for glitches or malfunctions while trying to capture a ghost. But, there are fewer chances of interference when videoing vs. photography.

For instance, in one notable photo that depicts what looks like a spirit. It could be the flash reflected by condensation on the lens.

Or even the photographer’s breath creating the “mist”. Main reason why ghost hunters should refrain from smoking while filming.

Filming eliminates the need for camera flashes. Main cause of fake orb photos (reflected moisture, bugs, dust, etc). Making video a great way for recording orbs, or any apparition.

Capturing a ghost on video sounds improbable, but there could be truth behind those videos online. Some are great, turning the most hardcore skeptic into a believer.

Sticking to high-definition, professional cameras is a must for investigation.

So many times I’ve seen footage disproven in the minds of skeptics due to the very common blurry image.

If the apparition is far away. Then zooming in to see a shape. This leaves doubt around any natural item or shadow. All thanks to the image not being clear.

Easily causes doubt. Even if the video footage is real, and to be one of the greatest finds in history. Don’t matter! It’s blurry.

Because of this, bringing the stronger camera is a must. Like…

  1. Fancy new Smartphones
  2. Video option on DSLR Cameras
  3. Best Video Cameras for Ghost Hunting

GoPro is Great!

The new ghost hunter swears by the GoPro. Boy, I wish these were around when I was investigating. So easy, just strapping it to your body and getting automatic recording in HD.

Only downside, there’s no night-vision.

I’m told the Night Settings on all GoPro’s are great in low light.

But, many haunted places are in complete darkness. For that, you’ll need to mechanically (and permanently) convert it.

DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I captures a ghost on deercam video in my yard. I want someone to view it. My 14 acre property is very active with ghosts. You can feel them.

Do you reply after you watch the footage. Me and my roommate captured paranormal activity in our apartment on video surveillance

I have captured two ghosts on film that I filmed myself one was at a priory during the day it’s a monk that haunts the priory the other one I filmed during the day at a thirteen century church both are 100 percent ghosts

I know there is a lot of places that clam to be hot beds paranormal activity but hands down I live in cross city Florida 32628 and on any given night you can walk or bike down any street and catch something so I just saying video or still shots all walcome here

We capture orbs daily. Sometimes they are only in groups of 2 to 5, other times it looks like a snow storm. No fans blowing and no air movement. They travel in intelligent patterns stopping then moving in another direction.

I believe my friend has several spirits in his home. Always seeing orbs. But the last video I seen wasn’t orbs. It was almost like an arm. He has cameras in his house and that’s how we’ve seen this

Hello! I have a question- I have a video as well as an EVP that I would like someone who knows what they are doing to look at and listen to, and I have nooooo idea who to ask. I put the question to Google and you guys popped up 🙂 basic backstory is 2 of my sons were killed in a wreck 11/25/2020 and I have had quite a few things happen, but i took a video outside at our last family fire before we moved, and I’m quite confident I captured some stuff that isn’t explainable (for me or anyone else Ive shown it to), and the EVP was unintentional- I was filming my oldest son’s room before I had to pack it up and I know there is something talking… but I have no idea how to figure it out. My question is if you would have any guidance for me on how to really ‘see’ what is in the video, and how to actually hear what is being said in the EVP (if of course it is an EVP- Ive listened to it a million times but can’t figure it out. Thank you kindly for taking the time to read my (super long) question 🙂

Sorry for the delay in responding, Sara. I can have a listen. However note, not being in the space as the EVP occurred, makes it impossible for an outsider (even an experienced one) to know for sure. In the end, you’re the best person to know. It’ll come as a feeling or impression on the moment and space.

But, if you want to send it along, you can email to ggdaniel@ghostwalks.com. Thanks for taking the time to write out your experience!

My coworker’s aunt captured on her security cam a ghostly figure walking across her front yard. Her daughter also have experienced unexplained movements of her kitchen drawers and chairs. They live within the same vicinity and close to a cemetery and mortuary. I ‘ve viewed the clip and we both think it’s a walking person – but most others see it’s just a spider. It’s really bothering us both, may we send you the security cam footage to view and let us know what you think. Thanks.
