Daniel trying to understand why he’s so very scared of “phone ghosts”. Not ghosts haunting phones, but spirits being able to reach out and communicate through the technology. This is a conversation with himself, sprinkles with multiple personal and outside stories of the phenomenon.
Including a story from Kentucky. An experience of residents in a community getting annoying calls from an impossible place. Reminding Daniel of an occurrence when he was a kid with Pizza Hut. An admission of loving greasy pizza, and not getting it thanks to… a ghost?
Then a story from “Canada’s most haunted town”, Niagara-on-the-Lake. And one Daniel witnesses when shooting the sh… sharing ghost stories with a group before a tour in Hamilton’s old Custom House. That one shook the lady involved, but reached out and shook everyone in the room. Mostly Daniel.

I was 15 when my Dad passed, we were heading out to the first visitation at the funeral home. The phone rang as I passed it, so I answered. All I heard was static and a man’s voice saying “Stevie”. I answered “He doesn’t live here anymore”. I had no idea what I should have or could have said. The voice then said “Everything’s okay”. At that point, since I was tearing up, my older sister took the phone from me. She says she heard nothing, but from the look on her face, I suspected otherwise.
