Death of William Red Snyder at West Virginia Penitentiary

Ghost Guide Daniel – – William “Red” Snyder was believed to be a violent man.  Born in 1946.  Starting with arson in his 20’s. It escalated. And he served time in many prisons.

Released on parole from West Virginia Penitentiary in 1967.  One day later, he killed 2 men, returning him to the storied (and haunted) prison. Eventually leading to his murder.

Torture of Inmates inside West Virginia Penitentiary

Only 10 years open when stories of inhumane punishment and torture was told to the newspaper, the Cincinnati Enquirer on November 30, 1886.  Former West Virginia Penitentiary Assistant Superintendent named Wilkerson had seen enough. 

After leaving he exposed accounts of violence done on inmates.
